Try a different IDE/sata cable (ie the one from the other IDE/sata
channel that still working). Try to put the drive(s) in the second
IDE/sata channel and see if the 2nd channel recognizes a drive is in
there. The other step you should probably take is to verify the drives
on a known working systemboard. Or you could take the drives to a
friends house and try it out on their computer... I have an external USB
enclosure that comes in handy for that kind of stuff.
With out looking at it, I'd say the drive has gone south but, the IDE
could be bad or both...it's not uncommon for drives to expire early in
life... It's got to be one or the other.
