Carroll County Amateur Radio Club
Meeting Minutes, 12 October 2009

Secretary Steve N3SB called the meeting to order at 7:40 PM. Fifteen  
members and no guests were present.

The meeting started with introductions around the room.

Evening Presentation:

Various Topics were discussed: Hamfest, November Sweepstakes.

Announcements:

The next CCARC meeting will be on Monday November 9th 7:30 PM at the  
Emergency Services Training Center in Westminster.

The next Board meeting will be on Wednesday October 21st, 7:30 PM at  
the Emergency Services Training Center in Westminster.

 From the mailbag:

Mail received: Receipt for payment of our liability insurance, a note  
from Springfield Hospital Center, and a note from the Pythian Sisters  
of Charity.

Secretary’s Report: The report was accepted as published on the reflector.

Treasurer’s Report: Pete W3GVX presented the treasurer’s report,  
detailing current balances, income, and expenses. The report was  
accepted by the membership present.

Committee Reports:

ARES / RACES: The next RACES Drill will be on Tuesday October 13th.  
Everyone is reminded that the CARET Net is held every Tuesday evening  
at 8:30 PM on the 145.410 repeater.

Repeater: The North Carroll repeater systems and BBS appear to be  
operating fine. The Sykesville repeater system may be in need of some  
attention; receive sensitivity seems to be down.

DCS Committee: Will be meeting on the fourth Monday of the month.

Station Committee: A West Mountain Radio PowerPole crimp tool was procured.

Old Business:

None.

New Business:

Bill N3WM expressed interest in conducting a CW class. Seven members  
in attendance expressed interest in taking the class, and two  
volunteered to help Bill with the class.

Motion from Chuck N3TOT: That the club purchases a Honda 2KW Generator  
I2000EU, cost not to exceed $1000. Seconded by John K3KWO. The motion  
will be tabled per our by-laws and can be voted on at the next  
business meeting.

General Discussions:

Hamfest: The Mason-Dixon Hamfest is coming up on October 25. Set-up  
will be on late Saturday Afternoon. Volunteers are needed to support  
the event. There will be a club table for members to sell their  
equipment.

Door prize – Jack Kolb donated a Coleman Air Compressor. Pete W3GVX  
won the prize.

Steve N3SB adjourned the meeting at approximately 8:50 PM.
