Carroll County Amateur Radio Club
Meeting Minutes, 8 June 2009

President Andy Leeds, WO3L called the meeting to order at 7:43 PM.  
Eighteen members and no guests were present.

The meeting started with introductions around the room.

Evening Presentation:

Andy WO3L and Pete W3GVX presented the club’s annual operating budget  
for approval.

Announcements:

The next CCARC meeting will be on Monday July 13th 7:30 PM at the  
Emergency Services Training Center in Westminster.

The next Board meeting will be on Wednesday June 17th, 7:30 PM at the  
Emergency Services Training Center in Westminster.

Field Day is coming up on the last weekend in June. The club will  
operate Class F out of the club station.

 From the mailbag:

No mail was received.

Secretary’s Report: The report was accepted as published on the reflector.

Treasurer’s Report:

Pete W3GVX presented the treasurer’s report, detailing current  
balances, income, and expenses. The report was accepted by the  
membership present.

Committee Reports:

ARES / RACES: Andy WO3L, Tony KF3AK, and Steve N3SB assisted the  
Carroll County Office of Emergency Management with an exercise held on  
Sunday May 31 at McDaniel College. The team demonstrated that  
ARES/RACES members are ready to help out wherever needed, and capable  
of handling some unusual tasks when required. A demo of MT-63,  
EasyPAL, and Olivia was given to Al Fitzsimons at MEMA. ARES Members  
should renew their ARES registration info on KE3FL’s CARET website.

Repeater: Andy WO3L and Steve N3SB spend Saturday morning of 06-June  
at the Gorsuch repeater site. The club’s BBS cabinet was relocated  
next to the repeater cabinets, to make room for county equipment.  
During the visit the club’s three repeaters at the Gorsuch site were  
given a quick checkout for power output, frequency, deviation, and  
receiver sensitivity.

Station: Andy WO3L and Steve N3SB spent Saturday afternoon 06-June  
working on equipment at the club station to get ready for Field Day.  
Rig to Computer interfaces were set up and tested, and sound card  
interfaces were set up and tested as well.

Field Day: This year its June 27 & 28. Discussions were held about  
antenna configurations, station set-up and rig allocation, and food.  
Pat N8PK offered to make some of his famous crab soup.

New Business:

None.

General Discussions: Mike N3VOP mentioned that he had recently  
attended the Butler PA Hamfest. At the start of the hamfest, the  
organizers played “The Star Spangled Banner.”

Andy WO3L adjourned the meeting at approximately 8:39 PM.
