Carroll County Amateur Radio Club
Meeting Minutes, 11 August 2008
President Andy Leeds, WO3L, called the meeting to order at 7:35 PM. Eighteen
members and three guests were present.
Introductions: Everyone in the room introduced themselves.
Announcements:
The next CCARC meeting will be on Monday September 8th at the Emergency Services
Training Center in Westminster.
The next BoD meeting will be on Wednesday August 20th, 7:30 PM at the FTC.
>From the mailbag:
There was no club mail available.
Secretarys Report:
Steve N3SB published the secretarys report from last months meeting to the
clubs email reflector. The report was accepted by the membership present.
Treasurers Report:
Tony KF3AK provided the treasurers report, detailing current balances, income,
and expenses. The report was accepted by the membership present.
Board of Directors Report:
The BoD report was published to the reflector. There were no questions about the
minutes.
Committee Reports:
Repeater The repeater has been behaving.
DCS The next meeting on the Fourth Monday in August. They will be reviewing
the results of the County Exercise.
Station Committee The new dipole antennas still need to be connected. There
will be a cleanup session in October.
Training & Education Committee Committee still open
QSL Bureau Mike N3VOP reported that the bureau is operating as normal.
Digital Committee No news to report.
TEC Committee Will spool up after Field Day.
Tailgate-Fest and Hamfest Bill N3WM circulated signup sheet to coordinate help
for the Tailgate-Fest. Setup will start at 4:00 PM Saturday afternoon, to work
out the parking details. Catering has been arranged (although right now there
are actually two caterers!) Bill has been working with the fairgrounds staff to
make sure all the issues have been clearly identified and worked out.
ARES / RACES Phil KE3FL requested that several members update their membership
information. Photos are needed for 11 people still. Nine people have not updated
their membership information for 2009.
Old Business:
None.
New Business:
Motion from Andy WO3L for $50 to update the clubs license for WriteLog.
Seconded by Chuck N3TOT. The motion was approved by the membership present.
Evening Presentation:
Al Caho, KA3DYL, from the South Bears, gave a talk about the Southern Baptist
Emergency Amateur Radio Service the third largest non-government disaster
relief service in the US.
EasyPal Tony KF3AK and Steve N3SB gave a brief demonstration on EasyPal.

Closing notes:
Tony KF3AK is seeking information on getting some radio equipment repaired.
Anyone with any recommendations should contact Tony via email or on the club
reflector.
Our MDC Section Manager Jim Cross WI3N made a surprise visit to the club meeting
to present an SEC appointment certificate to Steve N3SB.
President Leeds adjourned the meeting at approximately 8:25 PM.
