Carroll County Amateur Radio Club
Meeting Minutes, 13 October 2008

President Andy Leeds, WO3L, called the meeting to order at 7:38 PM. Thirteen
members and no guests were present.

Introductions: Everyone in the room introduced themselves.

Announcements:

The next CCARC meeting will be on Monday November 10th at the Emergency Services
Training Center in Westminster.

The next BoD meeting will be on Wednesday October 22nd, 7:30 PM at the FTC.

The Scouting Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) is next weekend. Right now there are no
firm plans to open up the station.

The Mason-Dixon Hamfest is on Sunday October 26th.

Pat N8PK shared a PSK-31 QSO he had with the club. The station he talked with
was operating out of a bus, running 3 Watts.

>From the mailbag:

The club’s mail was briefly reviewed.

Secretary’s Report:

Steve N3SB published the secretary’s report from last month’s meeting to the
club’s email reflector. The report was accepted by the membership present.

Treasurer’s Report:

Tony KF3AK provided the treasurer’s report, detailing current balances, income,
and expenses. The report was accepted by the membership present. Tony also
provided an updated September treasurer’s report.

Board of Directors Report:

The BoD report was published to the reflector. There were no questions about the
minutes.

Committee Reports:

Repeater – The repeater has been behaving. The BBS has not been behaving, and
needs to be looked at.

DCS – The next meeting on the Fourth Monday in November – no meeting will occur
in October.

Station Committee – The Station Committee conducted a clean-up on Saturday
October 10th. The coax to the 80m Windom still needs to be identified in the
station. The TS-850 station is now able to receive PSK-31; the other HF radio
sound-card interfaces are still being configured.

Training & Education Committee – Committee still open. However, there have been
several inquiries from local Scouting groups that are looking for help. Pat
N8PK added that he received an inquiry about his SIMSAT project from a science
teacher at Sykesville Middle School who would like to try a similar balloon
flight.

QSL Bureau – Mike N3VOP reported that the bureau is operating as normal.

TEC Committee – Rich N3III indicated that the committee is preparing a seminar /
presentation / demo for the Mason-Dixon Hamfest.

Tailgate-Fest and Hamfest – Details of the vendor set-up were discussed. 

ARES / RACES – The next RACES Commex will be on Tuesday October 14th at the
EOC.

Old Business:

None.

Evening Presentation:

The club conducted a sale / auction of surplus items that had collected in the
station.

Closing notes:

President Leeds adjourned the meeting at approximately 8:20 PM.
