Curt,

I agree that most of the digital contacts will be on 20 and 40 mtrs with a few on 80 mtrs as 20 will probably die down in the early morning hours. I have a good dipole to cover 160-80-40 mtrs, a rotatable dipole for 40 mtrs and then my old faithful vertical, the outbacker and ground stand. I am hoping to have my radio shelter completely in service for Field Day so that I can locate in the back of the upper lot down near the burn tower. As I remember, there is a power outlet on the front of the trailer office in the upper lot. It should be good for 20 amps at 120 volts. I might bring along one or two batteries to float on my switching supply ( 13.8 volts DC ) for the rig. I have a very narrow filter for my IC-706 MKIIG (350 HZ). This works well for both PSK-31 and RTTY. If I have enought room on my operating table in the shelter, I could bring my IC-756PROII. Both rigs are setup with very good digital interfaces for my laptop. I have an extra laptop for logging and the CT Logging program is a much better program than the one that is built into the MixW digital software.

If everything goes well with the shelter rehab, I will have A/C, lighting, ventilation and adequate room for 2 station operators and room for 1 or 2 visitors. I have no toilet provisions in the shelter, but the club station would not be too far away. The shelter will be mounted on a flat-bed landscaping trailer towed by my pickup truck.

For this year's operation, can we run our stations on the BG&E Power system at the FTC or will we have to run full-time on one or more generators?

I plan on stopping over to the FTC and check-out the upper lot over the next couple of weeks. I would think that anywhere within the FTC Compound would be inside the 1000 foot diameter for the Field Day Site?

Talk to you all later,

John, K3KWO
