In addition to good info from Andy:
power. we did not have a DVM on hand (or anything
else) to see if available outside outlet(s) were live.
there on the hill above our main station we should
evaluate how we can safely route power up there
antennas. definitely coordinate with N3SB. we
'casually' discussed potential to install a second
(much smaller) beam to provide a more effective signal
on 20m ( the club has a couple unassembled) that could
be used for digital (and/or CW). worth exploring!
rigs. as I was discussing with N3WM, definitely
choose something with a high blocking dynamic range!
even an extra 6 dB matters at a multi/multi station.
i think i remember you are wired for Icom for your
digi mode cabling, and I dont know if the club has any
assets to consider here (or digital mode cables for
our club rigs ?).
operators. we'll want to try to get some various
operators in action (particularly in prime-time).
most likely 'newbies' will have an easier time at the
phone stations, but maybe some will be brave enough to
learn digital mode operation.
GOTA. i suggested we consider a second phone station
instead of a dedicated GOTA (unless a handful of
dedicated GOTA ops emerges). this would put the
GOTA-folk into the mainstream, and otherwise allow us
to have 2 phone stations.
spectrum. this time in the cycle, we may be limited
to most operations on 80, 40 and 20m. let's welcome
the challenge and optimize how we position antennas
and select rigs. (let's not rule out 10m E-skip if it
happens, particularly for phone -- of course this
comes for 'free' for our tribander).
fun for all. definitely we want to get as many folk
operating everywhere as possible! this may mean
defering to (and training) visitors/less active hams
during prime time. (and i would love to operate some
rtty if i am successful in being trained!)
invitations. my goal for this week! we should see if
we have contact info on anyone who has visited our
club in the past 1-2 years!
emergency power. for class F, i think it merely needs
to be available. in the spirit of things, we could
consider some CW operation on emergency power.
