Hi John,
To complete the info under "HF DIG2" please add the
following:
o Power Source = single 7.2 AH gel cell (w/ weeks capacity).
o Antenna = (to be found/made/donated) 20-meter anything.
Suggestions?
Additionally, ...
o Feedline = no idea of how long or where to get. (Help?)
o The rig specifically is a Small Wonder Labs PSK-20:
See http://smallwonderlabs.com/swl_psk31.htm for
features, photos, and ops manual. Note: this unit is
"rock bound" on 20m.
o The rig will be pre-interfaced to a laptop running
WinXPP, with FD07 user name and password posted on the
lid, with another 7.2 AH gel cell (w/ hours capacity).
o Unlike the PSK-20 unit which features very low current
drain, the laptop ought NOT run continuously unless I
can borrow another gel cell or two, pre-charged at my
QTH, or tap into another battery (for which must be
identified in advance so as to have proper connections
ton hand) from he club.
o On the above laptop I use DigiPan 2.0 software for
PSK31 along with its own (very basic) logging. See
http://www.digipan.net/ for description, features --
and a FREE download for you. For a "better" logger
then we must talk, or have a separate PC. For "better"
PSK31 software, well, we might be stuck with DigiPan.
(I like it, but is there a problem with any other PSK31
operator with DigiPan at my station? Please speak now.)
Before Field Day, I have a slow-charge Smart Battery
Charger to use for any lead-acid (gel cell) battery
type under the 40 AH size, with a very good charging
characteristic track record, that anyone would be
pleased to have me charge.
Will you have a layout plan for stations, with feedline
dress, antenna selection, and noting power (both 120VAC
and 12VDC) distribution taps, all by station position?
So, I can help, but I also need a little help, as noted
above. Please keep me posted.
Cheers,
Pat Kilroy, N8PK
