A J-Pole is essentially an end-fed Zepp antenna. I can't find this
stuff I printed out a few months ago, but Google J-Pole, J-Pole
matching, end-fed Zepp and read up on these interesting antennas.
One author went through many experiments to find out what makes
them tick. He's the one that determined a J-Pole is an end-fed
antenna. He also points out that a dual band J-Pole doesn't work
well on both bands, with UHF loosing out.
Happy Thanksgiving.
OK! Found it. Cool links for you:

These should keep your eyes busy for a bit! :)
