John
very FB. thanks for the efforts. sorry i missed the
organization meeting. glad we have lots of enthusiasm
for this new challenge.
are we going to be co-located with the Carroll County
Contesters?
are we going to have generator power for PC's, lights,
etc. ?
i would be interested in colaborating with anyone
(N3III ?) to set up a second CW station if there is
interest. i can supply a nice, low current 20m
transceiver known as the Norcal 2030 (recent limited
production design by Dan Tayloe) that alledgedly has
high performance (we may see if we are co-located). i
was thinking a full time 40m station could be paired
with a second station operating on either 20 or 80
meters. i would need to colaborate in completing the
station. CW will likely be the bulk of our points,
unless we are blessed with very low QRN or maybe some
sporadic E - so two stations would be an asset i
think. (maybe an estimated head-count on how many
folk will be available to operate CW ?)
(suggest for phone station is have antenna capability
for as many bands as possible thru 10m as who knows
what the ionosphere and atmosphere will give us).
i would like to invite two area avid QRP'ers to
participate - K3ESE Lloyd (BARC-guy) who is an
excellent CW op and i am sure he can help with
logistic and likely will bring some interesting rigs
with him. and (another) John King KB3WK (CARA-guy) he
writes for QRP quarterly and he brought several
treasures to our antique radio night).
