CCARC Board of Directors Meeting, 19-April-2006
In attendance are John K3KWO, Rich N3III, Bill W3STG, Charles N3TOT, Rob
K1RH, Gene KB3JHR, Frank K3MTT, and Steve N3SB.
The meeting started at 7:35 PM.
1) Field Day The BoD discussed the way Field Day appears to be
developing. Two camps appear to be forming; those interested in operating
QRP, and those who believe high power (Class A) should be run. The Board
intends to let the committee decide what kind of Field Day will be held,
and hopes that the committee will try to appease as many members as possible.
2) Computers Discussion concerning procurement of computers
continued. The purpose of the computers would be to a) replace the existing
computers with something that's more portable, which simplifies maintenance
and transport into the field, and b) be available to support emergency
services needs. The topic remains open for further discussion.
3) Van sale Advertising will begin through ARRL and other sources.
4) VE Bill W3STG will function as VE liaison after the session
currently planned for Thursday 27-April. Bill asked if the effort should be
associated with the Laurel VE team.
5) Station Wiring Station re-wiring with Anderson Powerpoles will be
scheduled in the near future.
6) Generator(s) The BoD discussed the possibility of buying some
small generators. The discussion will continue when we determine how next
years' proposed budget shapes up.
7) Budget The board will attack the budget in earnest at the May BoD
meeting.
8) SKYWARN It was announced that the Baltimore Amateur Radio Club is
sponsoring a SKYWARN net controller class on 06-May. NWS is re-starting
SkyWarn training. Chuck N3TOT has made contact with NWS, and a schedule for
severe weather training classes is being discussed. Bill W3STG has offered
to be POC for SKYWARN training.
9) Door Prizes The BoD briefly discussed some options for door prizes
at upcoming meetings.
The meeting adjourned at 10:05 PM.
Respectfully Submitted;
Steve Beckman, N3SB
CCARC Secretary.
