FWIW, here's the official National Weather Service Special Westher Statement

IN ADDITION TO VERY HEAVY RAINFALL...THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE

********
There is a wooden gazebo in the field where we wil be setting up that would
provide shelter from severe weather. There are several buildings nearby that,
even if they are locked, have large porches. Some face away from the
direction the strom is coming from.
I suggest that those of use who can be out at the site by 2 this afternoon do
as much setup as possible before the rain moves in. We can keep a radio tuned
to an NWS station for storm warnings. We're on the far edge of the storm
warning area from the direction the front is coming; the NWS maps predict the
rain arriving in Central Maryland very late in the day, perhaps as late as
dusk.
