Most of you who have volunteered to serve as Station Captains for Field Day have
done it before, but here's a partial check list anyway. You will need the to
arrange for the following:
A radio
An antenna with ropes, mast, or whatever
A key, mike, or digital mode computer
Enough charged batteries to run the above gear for all of Field Day
or a alternative power charging system. (No AC mains or petroleum
power source)
A logging computer running CT (sorry, no exceptions this year; not even for my
Mac)
A shelter
Lights
Enough extension cord to reach the genset (at least 100 ft)
Table and chair(s)
You will probably also want:
A fan
A well-stocked cooler
Bug spray & sun block
Headphones
Note pad & pens
Take a look at the site map on the web page. We will be on the NE corner of 2nd
& Main. That is a gently sloping hillside rising to the east. The bottom near
the intersection is a open field with a gazebo. The gazebo is at roughly the
lower left corner of the "K3PZN Site" label. There are tall trees at the east
end of that field along the road that disappears under the site lablel. There
is level ground (actually an abandoned tennis court) in the area under the right
side of the label.
Finally, Springfield is a mental hospital. Not all of the patients are locked
up. Some have grounds privileges and may visit the Field Day site.
