THANK YOU TO JOHN HART, K3KWO, for that fabulous,
under reported (HI HI) presentation on PSK-31 at
the last club meeting! It motivated me to get back
on after a two-year hiatus.
I had a number of problems in getting my equipment
on the air. I thank Fred Merker, K3TAZ, who helped
talk me through a bunch of troubleshooting steps on
the club repeater (both 145.410 and 147.285). Also,
last weekend at the club site, Steve N3SB and John
W3JJH gave me some advice they had no idea how
helpful it was in resolving a problem.
So just yesterday I finally got things running
and made a few contacts, both stateside and DX, on
PSK-31. It's kinda similar to AOL Instant
Messenger (AIM) that my kids like, only much more
fun.
For now, I am stuck on 14.070 MHz running between
one and three Watts output. (Hey -- it was enough
to work a station in northern Italy this morning
before heading off to work.) I am working the
other issues to become "frequency agile" again,
so pardon me if I miss the next club PSK-31 net.
I hope it won't be long.
By the way, when and where IS that net? Still
alive? On HF?
Cheers,
Pat Kilroy
