Well, first, ...
On Saturday morning, September 24, our K3PZN repeater on
145.410 MHz FM came alive with chatter about the balloon
recovery effort! Didja know that? Some members do!
Launched just west of Hagerstown, Md. the ham radio
balloon flew over the southwest corner of Carroll County
and the chase was on -- along eastbound I-70. To see a
sketch of my story on the effort you may enjoy it at
http://patkilroy.com/bpp/ with lots of photos to boot.
I am working with university-level students, teaching
engineering principles using ham radio balloons (what
a concept!) under the Maryland space grant (MDSGC).
We hope to launch another one within a month. If you'd
like to participate or just follow along then watch for
news as the weeks tick closer to the Thanksgiving time
frame.
Cheers,
Pat
