HERE ARE THE MARCH MINUTES OF THE CLUB MEETING, CORRECTIONS, ADDITIONS 
AND DELETIONS TO ME ASAP PLEASE, 73'S

CARROLL COUNTY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB Minutes

The Carroll County Amateur Radio Club met on March 8, 2004 at the Fire 
Training Center, there was 31 members and on guest present.

President Beckman called the meeting to order at 1936, he welcomed 
everyone and had them introduce themselves, he made the following 
announcements; next board meeting March 17th at 7:30PM at the FTC; 
nominations for this evenings election are open; there was an audit of 
the clubs financial records on Wednesday evening last week, the books 
were audited from January 2002 to present and special emphasis on 2003 
Field Day, they were found to be in order; the MS walk is scheduled for 
Sunday April 25th; the cycle across Maryland event is the same weekend 
as Field Day this year, members will have to decide which event to 
participate in; this Wednesday beginning at 8AM there will be a detail 
to retrieve the 285 repeater from the Verizon building in Catonsville, 
volunteers are welcome; the FCC docket on BPL is on the reflector, he 
suggested that you wait to see the reaction from the ARRL before 
submitting your comments; he received a letter from Governor Ehrlich 
reference homeland security money for the van, the Governor has 
forwarded our request to George Thomas at the Carroll County EOC.

General comments; Pat N8PK reminded everyone of the AMSAT meeting on 
March 21st; Joe N3YIM reported he has contacted Mr. Darden at the VoTech 
in reference to fabrication of a starter for the generator.

Committee Reports:

Secretary � Joe N3YIM stated that the only old business for this evening 
was the election of officers and members at large to the board, motioned 
by Doug N5LBJ seconded by Keith KB3HHK to accept, voted and passed.

Treasurer � Bill N3WM had computer problems and was unable to generate a 
report for the meeting.

Board � John AK3Z gave a report on the last board meeting, a copy of the 
meeting in detail is located in the club radio room. Steve N3SB read the 
main subjects from our meeting with Buddy and the Carroll Co Emergency 
Communications personnel.

ARES/RACES � Larry WX3F reminded all of the RACES drill tomorrow 
evening, if you wish to attend let him know so he can get you access, 
the scenario for the drill is flooding and storms in the Maryland area; 
on March 27th at the Maryland Hamvention you will have the opportunity 
to meet the state ARES/RACES personnel; Phil KE3FL mentioned that the 
ARES database on the web is encrypted, you will need a special program 
he has to access the program, see Phil and he will give you the program.

Repeater � Larry WX3F reports the 2 meter repeater is in need of 
adjustment, why the repeater is spurring needs to be found out but in 
order to do this he will have to coordinate with the County; the 450 
machine is doing an excellent job; the remote receive site�s receiver is 
in his QTH when the gets time he will do the necessary repairs to get it 
on line, he suggested that perhaps someone with more time might be 
interested in doing the repairs.

Publications � Joe N3YIM reports the next issue of Newswaves will be 
ready for publication next month, if anyone has any input to the paper 
send it to him, using Microsoft word if possible.

Station � John AK3Z reports that an effort to finish repairs, and 
install the beam are most important; with the emphasis on the 
communications vehicle the station committee anticipates no new projects 
for the coming year.

Training and Education � Clint W3ARS says that the winter classes are 
winding down, a test session is scheduled for March 21st at the FTC at 
7:30PM.

Membership � Al K3ZE greeted three new members, there are 93 members on 
the roster, minus those in arrears leaves a net total of 81; Frank K3MTT 
can take pictures after the meeting for identification cards.

Digital � John K3KWO reports there has been slim attendance recently, 
the net meets on Thursday evening at 8:30pm on 50.290 MHz.

Youth � Doug N5LBJ, the youth group will meet this Saturday, the 13th 
from 1-4PM at the FTC, all youth are encouraged to attend.

Communications Vehicle � Keith KB3HHK reports their first meeting was 
held this past week, the mission statement was worked on with the main 
focus on Providing, Promoting and Dispatching, he plans another meeting 
within the next 3 weeks at the Harris Automotive shop so all members of 
the committee can see the van. Frank K3MTT reports the fund raiser 
letter is finished and will go to the board at their next meeting, we 
need to generate a mailing list.

Tailgate/Hamfest � Joe N3YIM reports that the flyers are here and 
available for distribution, we need to make sure we do not over 
distribute to the vendors; catering the tailgate fest was discussed, 
Convenience Caterers are very interested and have been contacted, we 
will see if there are others who would be interested before making a 
decision.

A Field Committee was formed; members are Mike N3VOP, Al K3ZE, Jerry 
N3GQK, Pat N8PK, Keith KB3HHK, Rob K1RH and Jim K4CGY.

Nominations for club officers and members at large were opened, there 
were no nominations for club officers, there were two nominations for 
members at large, Chuck N3TOT and John K3KWO. Nominations were as 
follows, Steve N3SB President; John AK3Z VP; Joe N3YIM Sec; Bill N3WM 
Treas; member at large Frank K3MTT; Jerry N3GQK; Doug N5LBJ; Keith 
KB3HHK; Chuck N3TOT and John K3KWO.

The election of officers and member at large was conducted with the 
following results;

President � Steve N3SB Members at Large

Vice Pres � John AK3Z Frank K3MTT Keith KB3HHK

Secretary � Joe N3YIM Jerry N3GQK Chuck N3TOT*

Treasurer � Bill N3WM Doug N5LBJ * Won Runoff

The 50/50 drawing was won by John N3MNM for $26.00; he donated his 
winnings to the van restoration account, thanks John.

There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 2135.
