> Dear CCARC VHF experts;
Well I am not one but I play one on tv. ;-)
I am up at o-dark-thirty working the IARU contest and 80 has gone dead
so I catch up on email.

I use the Diamond Super Gainer 7900A. It's the highest gain I have ever
found in a dual-band. But warning it is looonnggg. But then again I
don't park in garages either.

Although U-R is pricey they have a good description of it.
> Can these be magnetically mounted?
Unfortunately no. All of the Diamond "gain" antennas are DC grounded. In
fact most good gain antennas are. I would avoid mag mounts if at all
possible. They do have a mount that collapses into a trunk and a
remotely controlled fold over for garage parkers.
