[K3PZN-List] Membership Committee

Hi Al
I don't remember getting it your Email. Although if it was to keep the
roster only then I would have declined to give up the job and continue to
do the job as I have done it in the Club since around 1984 save a few
years.

But a real chair and committee needs to be formed to have a presence at
hamfests/ put on talks at schools, work with our teachers and examiners to
help turn the students into active members etc. A membership guide, similar
to the one Wayne and I did in 1998 needs to be done.

Further, not considering myself the "real chair" and unhappy with the
rotating dues year, I have not done much to contact members who haven't
renewed or send direct renewal notices etc. other than the indicators I put
on the mailing labels and in the roster. Direct contact and follow-up
letter or even dues due letters are very effective tools I have used in the
past successfully. Like I said, I WANT to retain though, at least for now,
the work I am currently doing.

So if you wish to do those other things that the membership committee needs
to do or get an active committee going to do those things, I would say
approach Steve and assume the Chair. I will stay on the Committee as the
roster person and badge maker, but will not actively work on recruiting or
maintenance of members.

As I said, if all the club wants from membership is to do roster, mailing
labels, and badges, I will continue to do same for the near future. But I
think what's required and missing is WHAT I AM NOT DOING!

I think the club threads etc. is one thing that is being done that belongs
as part of the Membership Committee, so you would have a head start.

Again, if your interested in the "real" membership duties let me and Steve
know. I will continue though, to do what I have been doing which really
isn't membership at all, but a helper to the treasurer and the secretary.

73, Frank

Hi Frank, K3MTT

I had sent you a direct e-mail awhile ago stating that I would be happy to
either help you out on the Membership Committee or assume the Chair, if you
wish. Perhaps you didn't get it? Oh well... The offer still stands. As
the bulk of the membership chair duties are keeping the records up to date,
I can probably do most of it at home. I have a rather variable schedule.

Let me know your thoughts.
