1) Members present: Keith (KB3HHK), Frank (K3MTT), Chuck (N3TOT), Joe
(N3YIM) & Bill (N3XLY)
2) Cost for titling and tags is $131. We must have insurance first.
Keith(KB3HHK) is in possession of all paperwork including inspection
certificate. Keith will bring said paperwork to the 4/21 BOD meeting. Joe
(N3YIM) reccommended that this be handled by CCARC treasurer since funding
is involved.
3) Committee determined best layout for truck is 3 identical multi-band
operating positions using ICOM-706 or similar radios. Committee will
contact manufacturers and solicit bids on three radio packages which will
include: multi-band/multi-format radios, antenna tuners, keyers, mobile
antennas, and coaxial transmission line. Each operating position will also
require a networked laptop computer. Chuck (N3TOT)
4) Keith (KB3HHK) will loan his personal ICOM IC-740 to the club for
temporary installation on the vehicle until permanant operating positions
can be obtained and installed. CCARC will need to provide coax, antenna
tuner and antenna(s).
5) Committee has agreed to standardize power installations using primarily
a 13.6VDC operating power standard using industrial deep cycle batteries
with Anderson Power Pole connectors at all operating stations and Rig
Runners for power distribution. Alternate operating power will be available
using the 120 VAC from the truck generator. Truck genererator will
primarily be used for battery charging systems. Chuck (N3TOT) and Bill
(N3XLY)
6) The committee has also decided that a bank of HT's should be purchased
for use (if needed) on location. These (dual or ti-band) HT's will need to
include three battery packs each: 1 standard battery pack, 1 nickle-metal
hydride battery pack, 1 AA-cell rechargable battery pack. Chuck (N3TOT) and
Frank (K3MTT)
7) Eventually, for longer deployments, a compact DC refrigerator, a small
cofee pot, and a sub-compact microwave oven should be purchased and
incorporated into the MCC. Frank (K3MMT) and Bill (N3YXL)
8) The installation of an AMBER emergency light bar was also discussed by
Bill (N3XLY).
The next MCC Committee meeting, weather permitting, will be on Saturday May
8th, 2004 at 8:30 AM - 2:00 PM (approx.) at the FTC to begin work on the
MCC. We will be designing, planning, wiring, discussing, yelling,
installing, cursing, etc. (For those of you that are wondering, the MD QSO
party does not begin until 6:00 PM that evening, so this should NOT
interfere.)
Respectfully submitted,,
Keith Krichinsky - KB3HHK
