HER ARE THE MINUTES OF OUR CLUB MEETING OF JUNE 9TH, ANY CORRECTIONS,

CARROLL COUNTY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB Minutes
The Carroll County Amateur Radio Club met on June 9, 2003 at the Fire
Training Center.
President Beckman called the meeting to order at 1930, there were 26
members and 3 guests present.
President Beckman made the following announcements; the next BOD meeting
will be on Wednesday June 18th at the FTC, main topic will be Tailgate
Fest 4 and the Hamfest, the 2 meter repeater needs some adjustment and
he encouraged members to program their radios with the PL, RACES comex
exercises are discontinued until September, the Frederick Hamfest is
this weekend (15th) we need to get flyers distributed, flyers are
available in the club station, the barn has been cleaned out and
shelving has been installed giving us a lot more storage space, he
thanked the crew of Clint W3ARS, Jim K4CGY, Eric KB3HKG, Keith KB3HHK,
Joe N3YIM, Steve N3SB also helped, the club station was also cleaned out
and the boxes etc. moved to the barn, there will be a field day debrief
and story telling at the July meeting.
The Secretary/Treasurers/Board of Directors report was given by Joe
N3YIM, old business on the minutes was the 2003-04 budget; the
treasurers report was read and a copy is attached to the file copy of
the minutes; the Board of Directors meeting minutes were read, a copy is
available in the club station, John W3JJH motioned to approve, Doug
N5LBJ seconded, voted and passed.
The proposed budget was discussed in detail with much debate, Clint
W3ARS asked if we had a quorum and the answer was no we were 2 members
short, Keith KB3HHK motioned to table the budget until we had a quorum,
seconded by John W3JJH, voted and passed, budget was tabled.
Committee Reports;
President Beckman wanted to remind committee chairman that money in this
year�s budget will expire on June 30th, without a budget approved
tonight we will be without a budget and money until the July meeting at
least.
Repeater � no report.
ARES/RACES � no drill until September; Keith KB3HHK made mention of CERT
training which is training for emergency assistance by non-professional
personnel until professional emergency personnel can become available in
a huge emergency or disaster.
Publications � Joe N3YIM reported that the next NEWSWAVES is due out
next month, if you have an article let him have it as soon as possible.
Station � the filters have been installed in the 850; and the station
has been cleaned with boxes and equipment moved to the barn.
Training and Education � On Sunday (9th) Bryan AA3XZ, Jim WX3B and Clint
W3ARS traveled to Glen Burnie to administer the Technician test to an
applicant with MS, Clint reported he passed the test with ease; Clint
reports that the Amateur Radio school presentation is being put into
pinpoint format; Keith KB3HHK is coordinating with the National Weather
Service to get a Hurricane class this summer, and a Winter course later
in the year, he will also try to get a Basic I and Basic II course
presented.
Membership � badge photos can be taken this evening for those who need
them, see Steve N3SB.
Digital � Doug N5LBJ reported that a Tapper 2 meter PC controlled with
APRS kit will be available soon, Tappers web site is tapr.org; the
Northeast Digital Conference will be conducted in Hartford, Ct this
fall; Doug has taken on the job as chairman for the North America
Digital Directory; he also reported on the rainy Dayton Hamfest.
Tailgate Fest 4 � Mike N3VOP will meet with the Board of Directors next
week to make preparations.
Field Day � John W3JJH gave the following report, the event will take
place at Freedom Park in Sykesville, same place as last year, he has
station captains for a 9A or possible 10A setup; captains need to get
their equipment together and if they need anything to give John a list
and put it on the reflector if you can; set-up will begin at 2PM on
Friday; Port-a-Pots will be rented from Fogles again this year; there
will be food available Saturday and Sunday members need to bring ice,
ice chests, side dishes, ice water; don�t forget to bring a 2 meter HT;
some items nice to have are, box fan, flashlight, power strips, insect
repellant and anything else to make yourself comfortable. Station

From the Pres � the Club web site has been updated as of the 8th and
Hamfest web sites have been updated for our two events.
Jack Kolb ask if the club could use some camping type equipment he is
willing to donate, the club accepted and will arrange for pick-up.
50/50 � was won by Joe N3YIM, for $24.50
There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 2133.
