Greetings everyone,
Well, we had the second digital NET last evening at 20:30. The mode
was PSK31 and we had 3 1/2 check-ins. The NET was conducted from the NEW
digital equipment at our club station. The antenna was the TRI-Bander
Beam and it was pointed south. The three check-ins where:
N3VOP Mike
WB8YYY Curt
N3SOK Jerry
The 1/2 check-in was Paul WN4AMO from Ft. Lauderdale Florida. He
hopefully will be joining the NET next week if propagation allows. He
was just passing by our frequency and stopped to listen in.
Everyone had a weak signal, but you will soon learn why; I need to
confess something to everyone. I am not familiar with the operation of
the ICOM-756, this is something that I can promise will be rectified
shortly, however the probable reason why there was only 3 1/2 check-ins
to the NET was that I had 18DB of attenuation selected. OPS!!!!! Also, I
asked everyone to meet me at 1000HZ, however I did not notice until
about 10 minutes into the net that I was up around 1700HZ, not that
there were a lot of signals on 10 Meters, but I was not on the NET freq.
So for those who tried to join the NET last night and I did not
recognize them that is the reason why. I wasn't ignoring you on purpose.
I really apologize and now will check to make sure the attenuator is
turned off and that I am on the right frequency. I would like to ask
everyone to please try it again next week. This is great practice and
development of everyone's operating skills.
Also, it would appear that we do not have an omni directional
antenna for 10 meters. The station committee chairman is now been made
aware of this and they will be looking to rectify the problem.
Well to sum up, I had a great time running the net and would like to
try it again next week. Lets plan on 10 meters and PSK31 one more time.
This will be the last week for PSK31 on the NET. Look forward to seeing
everyone on 28.100 and 1000 HZ at 20:30 local time on Thursday July 31
