HERE ARE THE MINUTES FROM THE APRIL CLUB MEETING, ANY CHANGES OR
CORRECTIONS TO ME ASAP PLEASE, 73 ALL

CARROLL COUNTY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB Minutes
The Carroll County Amateur Radio Club met on April 14th at the Fire
Training Center.
President Beckman called the meeting to order at 1930.
There were 32 members and 1 guest present.
Secretary report was read, motioned by Keith KB3HHK and seconded by John
W3JJH, motion passed.
Treasurer�s report was read, motioned by John W3JJH and seconded by Doug
N5LBJ, motion passed. (Copy attached for file copy of minutes)
Board of Directors Report � John AK3Z gave a report on the March Board
meeting, a copy is posted in the radio room.
Committees;
Repeater � Larry WX3F, the 450 amp has been sent the manufacturer, has
been repaired and should be back in a week to 10 days; he is looking
into where the noise on the 2 meter repeater is coming from and has not
found the source as yet; the remote is still waiting for the County to
act; Doug N5LBJ ask if the time could be reset, yes; John K3KWO ask if
the 6 meter repeater could be set on a tone, yes.
ARES/RACES � Larry WX3F, the MS walk went well, Keith KB3HHK took charge
and did a fine job; there is nothing else until the bike ride is
September; those wanting to attend the Tuesday evening RACES drills at
the EOC must coordinate with George Thomas to gain entry;
The CARET net could use more net control stations, if you are interested
let Larry know; Keith thanked those who helped with the MS walk.
Publications � Joe N3YIM reports that the Jan-Mar 03 edition is at the
publishers and should be ready in the middle of next week: Steve N3SB
will put it on the web this week.
Station - John AK3Z reported that the filters for the 850 are here and
will be installed shortly; the manufacturer of the 450 antenna has sent
a new set of elements for the antenna, John read a letter from the
company president expressing his apology for the mistake.
Membership � Frank K3MTT will have an updated roster at the next meeting
and every other meeting thereafter; he made a set of address labels for
the newsletter mailing; he has some badges for those who have not picked
theirs up as yet.
New Business;
The following committees were formed and approved;
Publication � Joe N3YIM, Mike N3VOP and Frank K3MTT.
Station � John AK3Z, Doug N5LBJ, Chuck N3TOT, Jim K4CGY and Jerry N3GQK.
Membership � Frank K3MTT.
Field Day � Laird KB3JIW, Doug N5LBJ, Keith KB3HHK, Eric KB3HKG, Frank
K3MTT, Mike N3VOP, Travers KB3HNO, Mike N3VGB, Jim K4CGY, Phil KE3FL,
Larry WX3F, Curt WB8YYY and Joe KB3DSR.
Tailgate Fest � Mike N3VOP, Joe N3YIM and Keith KB3HHK.
Repeater � Larry WX3F, Bill N3WM, John K3KWO and Frank K3MTT.
Digital Communications � This is a new committee motioned by Doug N5LBJ
and passed by the membership. Doug N5LBJ, Mike N3VOP, John K3KWO, Frank
K3MTT, Curt WB8YYY, Larry WX3F and Laird KB3JIW.
Doug N5LBJ made the following motions;
That the club purchase the MFJ 269 Antenna Analyzer for club members
use, the cost not to exceed $500, seconded by Mike N3VOP , tabled.
That the club purchase the ARRL complete library with the cost not to
exceed $500, seconded by Larry WX3F, tabled. If purchased, Doug agreed
to be the custodian for one year.
That the station committee sort out all the miscellaneous equipment in
the radio room and get rid of by selling that which we do not utilize;
perhaps we could support a ham station at a local school, tabled until
the station committee can react.
Unofficial;
Steve N3SB passed out Tee Shirts to those volunteering for the Field Day
committee and to those who have or will pass out flyers at a hamfest
this year.
Bill N3WM won the 50/50 drawing, again.
The club threads arrived and were distributed to the members who
purchased them, thanks again Al K3ZE.
The Walter Cronkite ARRL ham radio tape was shown, and Jim WX3B gave a
presentation on his recent DX-pedition to VP5 land, he joined Steve N3SB
and Dave K3LP also from the club, he is already talking about doing the
same next year.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 2137.
