Hello CCARC members,

For those who are just getting into DX, this weekend is the IARU (International Amateur Radio Union) HF contest.  What I like about this event is the fact that it is short (24 hours) and less intense than a lot of other contests.  At the same time, it provides an opportunity to check out propagation, test your antennas, and make some interesting exotic contacts.  The exchange is simple...a signal report and your ITU zone. The rules are in the April 2002 edition of QST (page 96) and at www.iaru.org/contest.html or www.arrl.org/contests for those who would like to have some fun.  I plan to do this contest with two monoband dipoles I built myself, just to see how they get out.
