CARROLL COUNTY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB BOARD Minutes

The Board of Directors of the Carroll County Amateur Radio Club met on
December 18th 2002 at the Fire Training Center.

Members present were, Steve N3SB, Jerry N3GQK, Clint W3ARS, Jim K4CGY,
Frank K3MTT and Joe N3YIM.

President Beckman called the meeting to order at 1940L and brought up
the following items for discussion;
1) The flyers for our up coming events need to be printed as soon as
possible, but not later than mid March, as some Hamfests are beginning
already. A flyer with both the Tailgate Fest and Hamfest displayed on
the front with details and a map on the reverse side was approved, we
will need approximately 8000 this year which is the amount we ended up
with last year.
2) Al K3ZE submitted a price list for several type shirts, hats and
jackets with the club logo embroidered on them, we would need an order
of 20 combined items to receive a club discount of 20%. There is a 50$
fee for a one time logo digitization, which the Board approved to be
taken from the Boards 2002-03 budget. There were no prices quoted for
the jackets, we will ask Al to follow up and get them before we ask for
orders. Names and call signs can be added for an additional fee. More
information to follow later.
3) Steve N3SB is concerned about our insurance coverage since the
purchase of the UHF/VHF equipment has been installed in the radio room,
is it sufficient to cover any loss we may have, a review of old
insurance records available at the club did not really solve the
question, further review is required before a definitive answer can be
determined.
4) He ask if any current members of the Board who consider another term
on the Board, Clint W3ARS, Steve N3SB, Jerry N3GQK, Frank K3MTT and Joe
N3YIM answered in the affirmative, Jim K4CGY wants to think it over
stating that perhaps some new blood on the Board might be better, he has
served 2 terms and may want to step down, nominations will open in
February with the election slated for March 2003.

Joe N3YIM suggested that we spotlight a member of the club in each
NEWSWAVES so we can learn more about our fellow members, the Board
approved the suggestion. A letter or e-mail will be forwarded to the
member selected asking for his/her information for the article, Frank
K3MTT can provide a photo to accompany the article in most cases, if not
we will get one.

It was suggested that the club select a charity or non-profit
organization for a monetary gift each year in order to show our support
to the community, it was suggested that if we approve such a plan that
the organization be the Foundation for Amateur Radio scholarship fund.

The Holiday dinner will remain at Boulevard and Beyond for 2003, and it
was suggested that the menu remain the same as this years, Joe N3YIM
will contact B&B to make the necessary arrangements.

President Beckman asked Joe N3YIM to contact Mr. Lippy at the AG center
and sign the appropriate contracts for the Tailgate Fest on August 10th
and the Hamfest on October 26th 2003 as the club representative.

There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 2045.
