Keith, since there will be multiple control ops, most
of whom have Extra class tickets, you can do it all!
So, brush up on your CW & we'll even let you take a
crack on the slow sections of the cw bands if you're
brave enough!
Bring: yourself.
Will the new HAMs be made to feel welcome? YES!
Is it an overnight event? Yes, but you do not have to
stay. It is a full 24 hours from afternoon Sat to
afternoon Sunday. 24 continuous hours of operating
allowed. And CCARC generally does it all. If you were
to show up at around 9AM I'm sure they'd find
someplace to use your antenna installations skills, if
you have any, otherwise you can observe & learn.
Sunday afternoon is take-down time and as in most
events we will need help getting things down and
stored for the next event.
Are there any fees involved? No.
Is this a training event, a DX contest, or both? Yes
sort of, and No. DX is not generally done during Field
Day it seems to be a USA/Canada event but it is not
excluded either. The idea is to contact as many other
FD stations as possible. You do get a multiplier for
each state and Canadian providence, you contact I
believe.
Hope that helps.
