[K3pzn-board] July Meeting and MDC QSO Party

Topic 1 - what are we doing for our July meeting 'to make it worth the drive to attend' ? my suggestion on N3SB's MD FD tour won't work.

I can prepare something related to earlier suggestions -- I don't know if I could gather enough stuff on 'The PC in the Ordinary Ham Shack' (my earlier topics 3 and 5 + TBD ...

Maybe recap of 2 FD operations is NOT a good idea without context of N3SB briefing ....

Topic 2 - MD QSO Party. Should we participate as a club station ?? its really about showing ham radio spirit within our state, to the outsiders that show up to operate and chase us (literally in case of mobile ops).

Aug 8-9: noon-midnite on Saturday, noon-8 pm on Sunday.

Club stations have higher point value; friendly competition between clubs. Most clubs don't operate ALL 24 hours ....

I don't see a limit on how many simultaneous transmitters we can use (but they all have to be at the same QTH).

Much of the mobile operation is CW -- so we will need some CW presence to catch in-state multipliers.

Perhaps it will be EASY to agree to open our station for the event. Then perhaps we see if a slate of operators (in perhaps 2 hour blocks?) emerges for the event. Practical to operate on 2 bands at once (Day 20/40 or whatever else is open; Nite 80/40 and 160 is legal if QRN allows).

If 6-8 of us will operate, it leaves some time for modest participation from home. Most state QSO participants these days are OUT of STATE - and MDC only has 25 multipliers ... so running out of state stations is more important to a club that trying to get all the in-state multipliers.

I would be willing to operate 2-3 hours in the QSO party -- if board is interested, we can query others for 'donations' of time. This isn't a WY3P kinda contest, so likely a larger pool of operators exists.
