Keith,
Would you put together a training program for Carroll County ARES?
The training would start in January 2005 at the annual ARES meeting and continue each month to May 2005 (5 months). Each class being 90 minutes with 45 to 60 minutes of instruction and the remainder for questions and comments. Some topics for training: Net Operations, Message Handling (NTS format), Packet operations, and any other topic you find appropriate.
If you could send me a draft syllabus by December 4th, we can work out the particulars in time for an announcement of the training to ARES member the first week in January.
73,
Larry WX3F

The way I see it, and to officially get it on paper, the Emcomm priorities for us IN ORDER are as follows:
1) Appoint Doug (N5LBJ), Chuck (N3TOT) and Jerry (N3GQK) as
additional AEC's. Replace van heater core. Continue training radio operators.
2) Meet with Carroll County Officials. Contact Kenwood. Continue training radio operators.
3) Attend All-hazards Forum in Dec in force. Continue traing radio operators.
4) Re-establish contact and MOU's with Local American Red Cross, Salvation Army and nearby radio cubs. Continue training radio operators.
5) Permanantly install radio equipment (and computers) at the EOC.
Continue training radio operators.
6) Equip the van with radios, scanners, computers, gps, antennas, coax, batteries, food (MRE's), water, etc. Continue training radio operators.
7) Hold van dedication ceremony.
8) Prepare 5 "shelter kits" for emergency deployment. Continue training radio operators.
9) Schedule emergency response drills with all groups.
Although no timeframe is indicated, many items can go on simultaneously. For example: #1 and #2 can both be completed in
November. Please provide your input top the list above.
