I want to pass along additional information from the Calvert County CARA net about upcoming activities in the Calvert County Amateur Radio Club and the Calvert County Auxcom.

Top News:
Wednesday August 16th 2023 @ 7:00pm in the Harriett Brown Building Prince Fredrick, Calvert County Maryland.

Join Shawn N3AE and other members of the Calvert County auxiliary communications group for discussions and assistance with WinLink. WinLink is a digital messaging protocol using HF frequencies for sending messages. Very useful in times of an emergency. If you have a WinLink station that you need assistance with, bring it along.

Shawn also plans to discuss plans for the upcoming Simulated Emergency Test. This year Calvert County Amateurs have been asked to form teams of 3 people. Implementing the use of APRS, teams will be charged with the task of locating and documenting the position of Geostatic Calvert County boundary markers. Think of it as a BIG Fox Hunt. Sounds like a day full of outdoor fun and ham radio in Calvert County.

Also Wednesday August 16th 2023 @ 11:30am in Calvert County:

Join members of the Calvert Amateur Radio Association for some Ham Radio fellowship and enjoy a lunch at Hidden Harbor Restaurant in Lusby. I'm told it can be hard to find, hence it's name. Hopefully those who are attending will be on the air using the K3CAL Calvert
County Linked Repeater system.

At September's CARA meeting, Sept 14th 2023 at the Harriet Brown Building in Prince Fredrick, Calvert County Maryland:

Plans are in the works for setting up a Calvert County APRS Digi-peater on the K3CAL Sunderland Tower Site in Calvert County. This will allow those with APRS capable radios to send location and other information digitally to the internet for use on the APRS system. We hope to have a presentation at this meeting.

Stay tuned to the K3CAL Calvert County linked repeater system for all of the latest news and information about Calvert County Ham Radio.
