Dennis, That's done for safety of the electronic equipment in the radio shack.  All antennas are unhooked for lightning protection.   They can be hooked up for use then unhooked afterward.  The same with power supplies,  plugged in for use then unplugged between uses.Hope you're doing well. 73Dave KB3RAN Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy Tablet

Hello everyone.

Once you  have the repeaters up and running., you'll have to find a way to keep the Mt. Hope site up and running without disconnecting it every time you leave the station. The last time I was at Mt Hope, the radio was disconnected  from the antenna. Just a
 thought.

Subject: [K3CAL] Repeater update

Hi All!   At our last meeting we voted to spend about $3000 + to climb the Prince Frederick Tower and install the two antennas that we have already purchased.  At a meeting with the Repeater Committee and the Repeater Working committee at Mt
Hope last Friday, we decided as a group to temporarily not spend the money and try an alternative idea to provide better coverage for the County... As a result we will be doing some further testing on the 2nd of August to confirm whether our ideas will work,
prior to spending the bulk of our club's assets. We will be deploying our people at Prince Frederick tower site and Mt Hope tower site to do the testing and this will coincide with the 146.985 machine being off the air temporarily while we work.... Hopefully
it will be back on the air later the 2nd of August. You are welcome to monitor the frequency, and assist as necessary. Plans are to work in the morning and tests should be underway at around 10:00 AM. Thanks for your support! We hope to make the coverage better
to support our members and the County!   Just wanted to keep the members informed.

Thanks!   Steve N3IPN
