Is there an equivalent radio for 70cm? or 6m?
If this is a straight packet radio setup, then it might be nice to set up a county wide network with an external connection to the surrounding counties. Again, if this is going to be a club project, then it should be integrated into a master plan that details what the club's communications goals and implementation plans are.

Just food for thought...
If I were going to put up a digipeater *today* using current technology
I'd go for an Alinco DR-135TMKIII[0] *without* the built-in TNC. For
the modem I'd use an Argent Data System Tracker3[1] (T3-135) that
actually goes inside the Alinco radio making for a clean installation.
The prices are as follows:
Alinco DR-135TMKIII - $159.95 (R&L)
Tracker3 T3-135 - $85.00 (Argent Data Systems)
+ power supply
