Kenwood use a fair simple s/n scheme.
The first digit is the manufacturing year + 2
The second and the third digit is the month
Than you get the real s/n
So, 709xxxx means: 7-2=5=1985 and 09 September
This scheme is not applicable to items with the older kenwood's name 
"Trio".
