As you know by now, Hurricane Patricia spun up almost overnight into a record-setting category V storm, with 200 MPH winds and the lowest central pressure ever recorded. The storm is poised to devastate the Mexican coast. Mexico’s amateur radio operators have already geared up for the landfall. H.W.N. defers to those networks as the most effective way to keep that country’s population informed. Our operators are keeping a very close watch on the storm and its predicted paths- we are ready to activate quickly if conditions change.
We do join with other organizations in pleading for amateurs engaged in weekend contesting to keep track of the Mexican frequencies and where we do have privileges keep those frequencies clear! Frequencies include: 7.060, 14.120 and 21.120 MHz.
