CFC BIKE RIDE VOLUMTEERS,

Below is the my Thank You for the support of the CFC Bike Ride. THANK YOU
CARA volunteers. Having two events going on the same day made it real tough
to adequately cover all the support requirements.

If if weren't for those CARA volunteers and other operators from various
clubs in Maryland we could not of pulled it off.

Aloha,
Les
KH6CUJ

Subj: CFC BIKE RIDE - THANKS

To All,
I just received a phone call from Simone Jewett who is the Development
ManagerCystic Fibrosis Foundation, Maryland Chapter and the Race Director
for the CFC Bike Ride that we worked yesterday.
Simone wanted me to pass on big THANK YOU for our work in keeping the
course safe and hope we can do it again next year.
Also thanks from me for making my job a lot easier. Without using your
valuable free time to do this event, we could not have pulled this off.
Special thanks to Paul Mills (KB3KWT) and Ron Boller (N3WOF) our Dynamic
Duo at Net Control. Both Paul and Ron did their usual phenomenal
performance. Thanks to Keith Miller (AE3D) for being flexible and moving around to
fill some critical locations on the course. Lastly, I have to recognize a real
Trooper, Monica Noel (KC3EN) who checked herself out of the hospital just
to do this race. Monica’s and Ed’s was the second to last location to shut
down. Finally, we can’t forget Shawn’s “Heroes” (AE3D) at Rest Stop #2
for getting the PORTA-POTTY in its upright position before the start of the
bike ride.
Although this event was coordinated by the Calvert Amateur Radio
Association (CARA), we could not have done this without the participation of
various clubs. Covering two events, the Patuxent River Appreciation Day Parade
and the CFC Bike Ride on the same day did not help.
Thanks to the following club members: CARA, Anne Arundel Radio Club
(AARC), Maryland Mobileers Amateur Radio Club (MMARC), and the Columbia Amateur
Radio Association for allowing us to have complete coverage of the course.
This was a joint operation and hopefully you met Amateur Radio Operators
from other clubs in the area.
Thanks to the use of the CARAs repeater to provide voice and digital
coverage (APRS) for the Bike Ride. The repeaters worked flawlessly.
We had the following operators around the course:
Bruce Becker N3KNP (Rest Stop #3)
Ron Boller N3WOF (Net Control)
Chip Dayle K3AWD (Hunting Creek)
Shawn Donley N3AE (Rest Stop #2)
Jonathan Graefe N3ZVO (Chaneyville Road)
Erick Graves WA3G (SAG #1)
Jerry Hazell N3HKJ (Rest Stop #1)
Keith Miller AE3D (Wilson Road & School)
Paul Mills KB3KWT (Net Control)
Ed Noell KC3EN (Rest Stop #4)
Monica Noell KC3DAS (Rest Stop #4)
Larry Packer KB3YTX (School)
Bill Rynone WB2EIQ (Cox Road)
Rick Smith N6GSE (Director Shadow)
Jim Tetlow K3UGA (5th Street)
Aloha,
Les Silva
