*RESULTS OF FIELD DAY MEETING, TUESDAY, MAY 19, 2015*

**

*/Hi All,/*

*ATTENDEES:T*he Field Day meeting we held on Tuesday, May 19 included
Bob N3PPH, Dave W3PQS, Tom KB2BCG, Les KH6CUJ, Bob KF3AA, Steve N3IPN,
Shawn N3AE, Ed KC3AEN, Ron WA4PRR, and Monica KC3DAS.

*VENUE:*Broomes Island Community Center (BICC), Schoolhouse Road,
Broomes Island, MD.Dick N3VKW is the lead on coordinating this site.Dick
is also contacting all of the residents on B.I. to make them aware of
our presence and to invite them to visit us.*/Thank you again, Dick, for
doing this!!/**/I have attached a PDF sketch of the BICC to this email./*

*//*

*QUIET GENERATOR:*I rented/paid for a 3kw Inverter Generator from
Dunkirk Hardware Supply (the one behind the Giant/Walmart shopping
center in Dunkirk).Rental cost is $40.00.Ed KC3AEN will be picking up
this generator on Saturday morning, June 27.

*CHECKLIST:*We reviewed the most up-to-date checklist to verify
everyone’s contributions so far and to add or delete. We are still
looking for anything you can bring to make sure that we have working
equipment at all times.

Please review the checklist to see if there is any equipment that you
think is needed and can bring.*/I have attached a PDF of the latest
checklist to this email./*

*FOOD:*No one has stepped forward to */lead/* the food effort for the
Field Day.

Eric W4OTN is contributing breakfast biscuits for Saturday and Dick
N3VKW is contributing breakfast casserole for Sunday.Don KR3A is lending
us his large coffee urn so we will have ongoing coffee.I am planning on
bringing as much water as we can handle, but I am not buying soda or any
other kind of drinks.I also rented a popcorn machine to keep the snacks
going over the weekend.I am not using club money for this rental. So far
that’s it for food contributions.

BICC has a full kitchen with a gas stove, refrigerator, and
sink.Although the center has utensils and cooking and storage ware, we
need to bring our own.Preferably disposable, i.e., paper and plastic!!

Les did tell us that he spent about $150.00 last year for food and
drinks, and he did cook himself. He had leftover drinks.Les will be out
of town this year for the Field Day.We discussed doing pot luck, but I
would LOVE for one of you to step up and at least coordinate
that.Coordination would involve mostly sending emails and keeping a list
of what everybody says they will bring.*/See the Food section in the PDF
checklist./*

*GROUPS FOR TECH AREAS:*Bob N3PPh discussed having groups for the
technical areas, such as computers, antennas, radios, etc.If you want to
concentrate your participation in one of these areas, let me know asap.I
will build a list of these groups with your names, so that these groups
can set up their own meetings and coordinate what each will be doing in
the group.

*POSTERS AND INVITATIONS:*Dave KB3RAN sent out all of the invitations to
Field Day the week of May 11.Bob N3PPH is the contact and has received
two regrets so far.*/Thank you again, Dave!!/*

Ed KC3AEN has the posters ready to be distributed.Dave W3PQS told us
that last year he was successful in having the posters displayed in many
of the smaller Calvert County businesses. The large businesses such as
the chain groceries and Walmart would allow the poster to be displayed
only in employee accessible areas. We need to get these distributed, so
I’m asking you to contact Ed about getting the posters and taking them
to any businesses, organizations, libraries, community centers, etc.,
that will display them for us.

*DISCUSSIONS ON EQUIPMENT AND ANTENNA PLACEMENT:*Needless to say, this
was the biggest concern of the meeting. There are no trees close enough
to the BICC to string antennas. The only structure close to the center is
the swing set, and we don’t need to see any little kids glowing in the
dark from touching an antenna.*/NOTHING/* can be attached to the building.

*PDF ATTACHMENTS TO THIS EMAIL:*Up-to-date checklist, sketch of Broomes
Island Community Center, and sign-in sheet. I will be forwarding an
email from Bob N3PPH that has the photos he took of BICC on April 12
when we visited it. You can view those photos online. Sending them as
an attachment to this email would clog the entire CARA contact list.

*CONTACT ME!!:At mnoell1 at verizon.net <mailto:mnoell1 at verizon.net> to add
your name and contribution to the checklist and the sign-in sheet or to
let me know which tech group you’d like to be a part of.Also, don’t
hesitate to contact me or one of the other attendees if you need further
info.*

*THANK YOU!!*
