[K3CAL] Short Sale VHF/UHF VERTICAL antenna

Peter, the SWR was over 2:1, sometimes it went to 2.8:1. Was hard on my Yaseu, sometimes it wouldn't TX on 444.950 because of high swr.

It may not be the antenna, may be the coax or connector (not as likely though) but I am also replacing the coax run. Won't really know until I take it down. In the meantime to use 440 I just use an older radio.

If the antenna won't work with 440 not much point in getting it if you are already set for 6 meters and 2 meters.

I shall keep you posted on what I come up with, who knows might just be the connector.

Sent from my iPad,.
Best Regards,
Jim Tetlow

I don't know if the frequency can be brought down or not as you would have to lengthen the antenna, maybe reactance would work but may cause 2 meters to loss some punch.

I only used it on 6 meters a few times in 2010, but never tuned it to the best 6 meter frequency at the time it went up.
