[K3CAL] Fwd: How to improve hand held radio performance

Sounds like BASIC radio poop to me. 
Any one should know about “Tiger Tails that grew up in 60’s and 70’s.
Esso had them for sale at the gas station and you put them where you
filled up your gas tank. 
Just kidding.
I have a telescoping antenna on my HT, that is why I can hit
the repeater from Waldorf.  Last Wednesday at lunch I had my HT and it had has a 16 inch 
antenna. Someone made a comment about it. The so called tiger tails for the HT’s 
have been around since the 70’s and 80’s and you could buy them at the hamfest.
It’s just a simple counter pose....dah....For those who don’t know, a counter pose should be about
10% longer than the driven element. For the HT any size wire will do.

21.5  inches of 14awg wire and a ring terminal.  How simple can you get?  I'll be making one of these in the morning.   That's for 147mHz.  Just right for our repeater.

I was surprised to see what the addition to a handheld showed on the Spectrum Analyzer as shown in the video.
