Well as some of you may know at our last General meeting, I was the lucky prize winner of someone running into me in the parking lot. Good or bad luck, we were both insured by the same insurance company. Although the other party failed to report the accident, respond to inquires via phone, email and certified mail requests, the insurance company as told me they are assuming liability, and will repair my vehicle.
Sooooo, all the radios that took almost 4 years to install (mostly the HF Yaesu) have to be removed to put the vehicle in the shop. I actually finished the electrical power buss 60 amp, and wiring for both radios from the battery, no more cigarette lighter plugs!!!
Glad I saved the boxes to store them in, shouldn't be too bad.....just remove the heads and bodies, mics, rf meter antennas; mounts, wiring and speakers can stay in place. Should be an easy re- install.
No telling how long it will take to replace the bumper, no painting, body work to do, but checking with MoPar there is a 5 day delivery on in stock OEM 2010 wrangler bumpers.
So maybe two weeks +/-, at least I will have a rental car. Oh, no shop in Calvert County works with GEICO, so I have to drop it off in Annapolis. The rental car will be at the shop when I drop it off......guess where the car is coming from? Yes Prince Frederick! No wonder everyones insurance costs so much.
I really shouldn't complain, nothing out of pocket for me, only my time, and I don't have that much left ( time) in my account these days!
Wouldn't it be better if the victims only had to sit back and the person at fault had to make arrangements to get your vehicle in the shop and deliver it to you when repaired, plus deliver and return your replacement rental vehicle? Seems like the victim always pays with time and money and never gets reimbursed for that loss.
You know your getting old when you bitch about everything!
Looking forward to seeing the lunch group tomorrow.
