Guys, 

If you rent your modem and / or router from Comcast, they will replace a defective one.  

I had speed problems that rendered my Internet almost useless.  I was getting less than 1 M b/ S download speed.  It took them about a month of replacing cables, modems, routers, etc. until they called in a Level 3 tech to look at it.  To make a very long story short, it was traced to a downloaded setting to my router!  

Because I own my equipment, I had to purchase my replacement equipment (at Office Depot or Walmart).  If you rent your equipment, and have an older modem (Block 1), Comcast should upgrade it to a faster Block 3 one.  They sent out an e-mail about this a few months back.  

If you want to test your speed, go to SPEEDTEST.NET - it is the be that Comcast uses.  GOOD LUCK!  73,
