we bough the modem & router on amazon. sounds like your modem might be the
same one we had. over time the insides go belly up because of internal
heat generation. but we got 10 years out of it. so it was time for a new
one.
be careful when comcast says the will give you another one. they may
supply it and lease it to you on a monthly basis. if this is the case, you
will probably save a few hundred dollars or more by buying one thru amazon.
i had the info on the modem & router backwards. here is what we have for
reference.
modem: zoom model 5341
router: linksys ea2700 (cisco systems)
