Guys, you made me go back and look at my earlier letter.

I'm sorry for the confusion I never said you needed EC-001 for RACES.

EC-001 is ARES certification, not RACES.

We are a RACES and ARES club.

I have all my FEMA /NIMS RACES certs. FEMA is FREE!

I was looking into getting ARES Certified as it would reinforce Traffic and
message handling.

I know you do not have to be certified EC-001 to work in the EOC (RACES) as
of now.

Knowing the EC-001 methodology would be a great advantage to a RACES
operator. I have not found a FEMA course in RACES as of yet (still looking).

I know you do not have to be certified to work ARES events and incidents,
but I was disappointed to find there was a cost for the course (non
reimbursable).

I just didn't feel it was right to charge volunteers for this course.

I totally agree with Wayne's and Dick's comments, I think I confused the
facts between RACES and ARES (which could be typically easy to do).

Regards,

Jim Tetlow
