[Johnson] Looking for resources and possibly some help . . .

I'm new to the list so I don't have the benefit of past posts to
search through.
I just bought a Johnson Ranger (I) at the Hamvention yesterday from an
estate sale. I made some quick checks into a dummy load and can't get
any output power indication, but I'm not surprised.
I plan to re-cap it and check resistors and voltages. I do have the
manual in PDF, and found another manual from the BAMA mirror site that
has better and more pictures added to it. I plan to print the
schematic on 11 x 17 paper to see it better.
My first step, though, will be to find the problem(s) it currently has
and fix them.
I am looking for resources that some of you may be aware of that might
help me on my way to getting this rig in perfect working order.
My total investment so far is only $50, so if I find something that
would be an expensive repair, making it not worth fixing, I can look
for another one of these and use this one for parts.
So, where should I start as far as getting to resources that might be
useful in fixing this old Ranger transmitter?
Thanks!!!
Donald
