[Johnson] 10 watt audio amplifier

A strange but happy ending!  Thanks to a schematic scan provided by a
list member, I was able to confirm what I thought - the extra windings
were for the bias supply.    I've become overly cautious when
powering-up a new device and after recapping this amplifier last night I
did the perfunctory ohmmeter checks on the transformer windings, only to
find one half of the HV secondary measured open circuit.   Verified with
a different meter, then posted my note for assistance and called it a
night, expecting an expensive rewind job lay ahead.

Today after verifying the connections were correct I went ahead and
applied power with the rectifier tube removed and what do you know?
Full voltage on both sides of the secondary!  Rectifier in, full HV and
good clean waveforms thru the audio chain.

Evidently some internal connection in the transformer was "open" to
ohmmeter voltage but healed itself when several hundred volts was
present.  Can't say I've ever seen this before but very happy the
transformer seems OK.   I've had the 10 Watt Audio Amplifier for many
years, telling people it was "bait" for attracting a Desk KW. Well, now
that the bait worked it would be a shame not to be able to put it to
use, especially after spending inordinate time restoring and aligning a
Pacemaker.   Thanks for the assistance.
