FWIW tubes should, in general, not be shipped in their sockets.
Better to wrap and box them separately. They may still be perfectly good.

I am feeling very lucky as this V-II seems to be in very good condition. I hope I don't abuse my welcome in the weeks to come as I run into issues.

The schematic shows a 6AQ5 which at first glance of the schematic appears to be a clamp tube for the 6146s. My V-II does not have that tube. The manual has 13 tubes in the parts list, my V-II has 12 tubes. The spot for the 6AQ5 and R30 pot are just blank chassis on mine. Could it be that the clamp tube was added on later models? Could it be I have a very early model?
