That's the way it was with mine. Works fine he said. Bought it from a hard
up ham. A look inside and the 6146 modulators were missing. Only worked CW
he said. Didn't care, as the walk out the door price was $150 for a very
clean looking Valiant. Chernobyl resistor blown--check. Shorted filter
cap--check. Resistors 40% out of tolerance--check. Idiot modification to
the clipper circuit--check.
At least it was "running" better than the NC-300 I bought a week later as
its companion. Works fine he said.....

Gonna have to rethink this fuse thing. Im going to have this thing apart a
few more times so I may just have to break down and make it more convenient.
Main objective this weekend was to see if this radio actually worked and it
does. Dont know how many times I have heard "worked the last time I used
it", only to find transformers blowing up, sparks flying and who know what
all. Lots to do before finally saying "its done", this one is going to be a
keeper so lots of TLC is going to go into it.
