Hello. I have 2 Manuals for this Valiant which I just picked up & little by little I am trying to go threw it to check some Voltages & settings in the manual & assembly manual..
Well in one manual it states to adjust the bias with R-61 which is by R-62 on the side but R-62 has been removed & only R-61 is left & does nothing for the Bias adjustment.

The other manual says to Establish the bias voltage by means of the adjustable tap on R-22 but R-22 has also been removed and in checking the Voltage on the L-7 it is at 81.00 volts & not the 70 volts by the manual so if I wanted to get it to the 70 volts what should I look for to do that.

The Valiant does tune up to 150 watts & when I talk into the microphone it goes to a little over 300 watts and listing to it threw my Yaesu 857D it sounds nice & clear & clean to me here in the shack yet a friend of mine 7 to 8 miles away says it is not clean & clear to him & I think he is just not tuned right on to me as again it is great here on the Yaesu. So I wonder if someone might add to that if it is nice & clean & clear sounding here in my shack would that not be that it is working as it should & my friend is just not tuned right on to me??
All this AM stuff is new to me and this Valiant is the first AM only transmitter ever & I want to to give AM a try Much less work on the transmitter but I have had some good advise here so I will look for any thoughts anyone has.
