[Johnson] 120V Accessory Socket

Another approach is to get another crystal socket. Solder some tinned wire, or small nails/brads into the socket pins, solder the leads to the lug side, seal with RTV sililcon rubber, and you're good to go. Not pretty, but I've used it more than once.

David,

You can easily make one up if you have an unneeded HC6/U crystal. Just
disassemble it, drill a hole for the wires, solder in the relay leads then
reassemble it. Glen Zook may still make these up as well.

I guess we'll never know why EF Johnson chose such a funky was of
connecting the antenna relay.

URRG! Does anyone have a positive, non-loosening, method to make a
connection to the 120V accessory socket (really a crystal holder) on the
back of a Johnson transmitter that doesn't involve replacing the
socket? If you have to replace the socket, suggestions?

There are two possible outcomes: if the result confirms the hypothesis,
then you've made a measurement.
If the result is contrary to the hypothesis, then you've made a discovery.
