Seems to me that the transmitter would or could run again. It might convert some young person to tube radios.
Here is a suggestion:
Modify the thing into a low power exciter: take out one 6146 and the modulator tubes (Does it even do AM!), and rework the final to run in linear, class A mode. This is what TMC did in their medium size transmitters and 200 mW exciters. Northern Radio used 2E26’s in their exciters for the same purpose. You could just plug in a 2E26 with little circuit changes.
The final circuit in the Vikings is quite versatile: continuous coverage with a roller inductor. (That may need to be re-glued back into working order.)
If you have the project running by winter, it will heat the shack a bit.
