All my no name Chinese crap cap experience is in amps, vintage transmitters
and receivers so dont go making half baked assumptions.
The Internet is full of reports of failures in this type of equipment with
caps bought at hamfests and from cheap garage/basement operations in the US,
Canada and some EU. The Chinese do make high quality caps also however many
brands including US, Japanese, and Taiwan are also counterfeited. I buy only
from major distributors who have their own incoming inspection. The few
extra dollars in an overhaul is meaningless to anyone expecting quality and
long term reliability. OTOH many hams are known cheapskates.
When run well below their marked voltage most seem to survive but time will
tell as their availability is fairly recent.
I refuse to use any in my equipment or for customer repairs.
Your way may be less consevative.
