[Johnson] Viking 1 "gotchas" ?

Gotcha's? There are always those. Plan on a recap of all the paper and
electrolytic capacitors. Digikey is your friend. Measure any resistor over
100K. Many will have moved beyond tolerance and replace. Google your
rig--there is a lot of info--and suggested fixes. Do the ones that are
factory service release specified first. You will benefit.

The fun is making this rig yours--and this happens by rehabbing the rig and
learning its wiring, circuit design, and mechanical architecture. There is
nothing better than when it is all aligned and done that you make a nice QSO
knowing that you know that you know your rig--and that it is your handiwork
that made it possible!

Subject: [Johnson] Viking 1 "gotchas" ?

Hello All,

It looks like I might be acquiring a Viking 1 in "restore-able" condition.
Just wanted to check to see if there are any "gotchas" before I take on the
project, like unobtainable replacement parts, or whatever.

Cheers,

Brian Burns Ex: W5BRO, K6UCD
