[Johnson] Viking II on WARC bands?

Hi,

I did some testing with several different transmitters that included a
Johnson Ranger (1) but not a Viking II. All of the transmitters easily
accommodated the WARC bands with the controls peaking well inside their
limits. I made my tests using crystals that would be doubled, etc as
needed for the multiplier scheme through the transmitter to operate 30
meters in the 40 or 20 meter band, 17 meters with the bandswitch at 20
or 15 meters, etc. Some of my transmitters will operate on 40 meters
with an 80 meter xtal doubled OR with a 40 meter xtal straight through
and that is specified in the owner's manuals. So the 30 meter example
might us a ~5 mc xtal on 40 or a 10.1 mc xtal..depending on how the
transmitter operates when it is on 40 meters.

I ran those experiments with the Ranger, my DX-100, an Apache, and a
Knight T-60. I would expect similar results on a Viking II.
